How the review works
Templates are reviewed by Meta's systems, with human review for flagged cases. The reviewer sees the template in isolation: if it reads like spam, it is rejected.
- Every template is reviewed before first use
- Category, wording, and opt-out mechanics are all checked
- Authentication templates usually pass fastest
- Marketing templates are checked most strictly

Why templates get rejected
Rejections are wording problems, not policy mysteries.
- Excessive capitalisation (WHO IS READY FOR A DEAL)
- Urgency and pressure language (last chance, hurry)
- Promotional words in utility or authentication templates
- Emoji, especially in business-initiated templates
- Missing opt-out for marketing templates
- Sample values like [NAME] instead of {{1}} variables

How long approval takes
Most templates are reviewed within a few hours to a couple of days. Plan campaigns around the review, not against it: keep a bank of approved templates so you never wait for a send.
- Plan campaigns around the review window
- Keep a bank of approved templates ready
- Authentication moves fastest; marketing slowest

How to resubmit correctly
Repeated rejection for the same reason can flag your account, so fix the root cause.
- Read the rejection reason before touching the template
- Fix the specific issue; do not resubmit identical text
- If it cannot be edited, create a new template and retire the old one
- Two or three clean approvals rebuild confidence faster than one disputed rejection
